Day 1

Darwin – Kakadu

Depart Darwin at approximately and journey along the Arnhem Highway, passing through its major river systems and wetlands, before reaching Kakadu National Park. Situated 257 kilometres east of Darwin, this vast park spans 20,000 square kilometres, offering a landscape that ranges from rocky escarpments, home to historic Aboriginal rock art dating back thousands of years, to floodplains teeming with wildlife. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre, where informative displays highlight the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. Join your local guide for a cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong, where you can search for saltwater crocodiles and spot the vibrant birdlife this region is famous for. After lunch, stop at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie), where your Driver Guide will take you on a walk to explore the rock art galleries. You’ll also have the option to enjoy a 50-minute scenic flight (at your own expense).

** As this Short Break commences at 6.30am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.

Day 2

Kakadu – Darwin

This morning, join your Driver Guide to explore the World Heritage-listed area of Ubirr, where you’ll ascend through ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries, thought to be around 20,000 years old, to reach the lookout, offering stunning views over the surrounding wetlands. Next, embark on the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River, where an Aboriginal guide will share fascinating insights into their culture, including local mythology, the river’s rich food chain, and bush survival skills. With special permission from the local people, you’ll have the opportunity to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Before returning to Darwin, make a stop at the Marrawuddi Art Gallery, and reflect on your unforgettable journey as your short break comes to an end.
