Day 1

Darwin – Kakadu

Depart Darwin and journey along the Arnhem Highway, passing through major river systems and wetlands, on your way into Kakadu National Park. Located 257 kilometres east of Darwin, this vast park spans 20,000 square kilometres, ranging from rocky escarpments adorned with historic Aboriginal rock art dating back thousands of years to floodplains teeming with wildlife. Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre to explore informative exhibits showcasing the traditions of the Aboriginal people of Kakadu. Join your local guide for a cruise along Yellow Water Billabong, where you can search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful birdlife this region is famous for. After lunch, stop at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie), where your Driver Guide will lead you on a walk to view the rock art galleries. There is also the option to take a scenic flight (at your own expense).

Day 2

Arnhem Land – Darwin

This morning, embark on an early start as you travel by 4WD into Arnhem Land and the Mikkinj Valley. Journey through stunning landscapes featuring sandstone outcrops, escarpments, forests, and floodplains. Learn about traditional land ownership, bush skills, and bush tucker, and discover Aboriginal rock art in its natural setting, often accompanied by an Aboriginal guide. Returning to Darwin at approximately 19.30pm.

- Minimum child age 8 years 

- Arnhem Land Tour – A moderate level of fitness is required. The tour is operated by a third party in a 4WD coach, with four steep steps to board the vehicle. There are several stops throughout the tour, and guests should be prepared to get on and off the vehicle frequently. 

- Ubirr – Reaching the top of the lookout may be challenging for some guests, particularly those with limited mobility, as it involves climbing over large rocks with no rails or stairs. The path to the lookout is rocky throughout. 

- Nourlangie – The walk around the galleries is 1.5km and has uneven surfaces, steps, and some slippery areas. It offers good accessibility for those with limited mobility.

- As this Short Break commences at 6.30am, accommodation will need to be pre-booked for the previous night.
- Tour finishes at approximately 19.30pm so flights must depart the following day
